maven

maven (MAY-ven) noun

1. One who has obstinately elevated their own interest and knowledge in a subject to the level of self-assuredly without error. The qualifications of such include a degree of plausible inexactitude and invalidity combined with the willingness to proclaim said knowledge and qualification in a lugubrious or pedantic manner. They are common in the fields of language and wine. Synonyms: snob, prig.
